Herberts In Love-Turtle

Hey Everybody,

Wow is it ever hard to keep up with a blog and teach Copic classes at the same time. I can't post the stuff I'm using in class and since most of my time is spent coloring for class.........So, I finally had a chance to color something for pleasure only. Here is a really cute Digi Image from KarensDoodles.com called "Herberts in Love".

Him: I colored his shell in BG93, 96 & 99. His belly is E81 & E87. His skin is W3,5 & 7.

For Her: Shell is YG93, 95 & 97. Belly is also E81 & E87. Her skin is one shade lighter all over. W1,3 & 5. I then went very lightly over both of the skin with YG91 to give it a greenish hue.

Her clothing & shoes & ribbon and the hearts are in RV00, RV17 & RV19.

The table cloth is Y32 & 35. Stumps: E53,25,29 & 35. Grass: YG91, 93, 67 & 17.

Coloring Book Digi's

Hey Everybody,

Hope you're all doing well. I've been doing a little coloring just for me and thought I would post the cards. I have a stack of coloring books that I used to color with my Prismacolor Pencils. But of course you can't use your copics on them. So.....I copied some of the pictures onto CS so that I could use my Copics. I love do FairyTale type images. These were a lot of fun.

1st Image- I used C5-7&9 on her hair. Then added some BV04 for bluish/purple highlights.

Her dress is done in YG00-01-03&05. The skirt is also B41 & B45.1s

#2 image is from a Barbie Book. This is a dress she tried on for a fashion show.

It's done in BG000, BG01, BG05 & BG07.

Image#3- Prince Charming

His & Her Hair- E18, E19, E99 & YR23

Her Dress: R02, R05 & R08. Over top of that I used R83, R85 & R89. I wanted a specific color that S/U has in their CS line and this is the only way I could get it.

His Suit- Again a specific color. Jacket B91/93&95 with T3 over it.

Pants- B95/97/99 with T6 over it.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Hey Everybody,
It's been so long since I've been able to just sit down and make a card for my personal use. Everything I do right now is for the classes I'm teaching. But tomorrow is our 18th Anniversary and of course I had to make something special for my husband. I thought I'd share it with you.

I colored some small crystals with various Copics to mimic jewels. I also put dots of Liquid Pearls in White Opal (which I've decided I do not like this stuff as it is impossible to get the dots rounded-Viva Decor works better).

I really really enjoyed coloring this image.

Potpourri Class

What is this all about? In this class we'll cover a mixture of cool color combinations that don't quite fit in any other class. We'll color a hot air balloon Golden yellow to mimic firelight. You can use this technique to color lamps and hidden lighting. We'll also see how to color metal items, like a mailbox or watering can. We'll do combinations of Cream & Reds also. You will need the following list of Copic Markers for this class- E40, E41, E42, E43, E44, E97, E99, C0, C1, C3, C5, C7, YR24, Y00, R29, R32, R35, R37, R39 & C. Blender.

Water & Clouds Class

You could color all of your water to look the same, but why would you? Come learn how to make ponds look like ponds. Oceans like oceans. And Lakes like lakes. There are different color combinations that work to make each look like what it is supposed to. What about a beautiful Waterfall. And above all of these bodies of water are CLOUDS. We'll go over some color combos for doing clouds as well. You will need the following Copic Markers for this class- BG10, B000, B21, B24, B26, B52, B91, B95, YG93, YG97, G82, G99, C0, C1, C2 & C3.

All things WHITE & COLD Class

Since a Snowman is white, how do you color it? What about clear Ice? A White Dress? This class will focus on things that are perceived to be colorless. Now you'll have a chance to use some of those Grey Copics. You will need the following Copic Marker Colors for this class- C1, C3, C5, BG10, BG72 & C. Blender.

Bricks, Stones, Rocks, Sand & Pebbles Class

Wow! You will learn a lot of things in this class. Have you tried to color a brick wall yet? It looks so tedious. But after this class, you'll fly through it in no times. You'll learn to add a brick wall when your image doesn't have one. What about adding pebbles under an image? Sand? You will need the following Copic Markers for this class- E31, E33, E37, E42, E44, E53, E57, E77, W1, W3, W5, C3, YG91, YG93, YG95, G21 & C. Blender.

Animal Class

In this class we will focus on all kinds of animals. You'll practice FUR, FEATHERS, TEXTURED SKIN, & HAIR! You will see how to add texture to certain animals, like Elephant Skin. You'll learn how to color your Cat Smooth & Hairy. For this class you will need the following Copic Marker Colors-E70, E71, E31, E33, E35, E37, R00, R01, R02, W00, W1, W3, E53, E55, E57 & E59. If you have a small Flat bristle art brush, this would be helpful also.

FASHION CLASS

All of us Ladies love fashion. In this class, we will focus on all kinds of Fashion Attire. This will give everyone a chance to use all kinds of different color combinations in pinks, violets, blacks & reds. What about wedding dresses? (My personal fave to color). We'll also cover making clothing look Vintage and Pastel. For this class in particular, you will need the following Copic Marker Colors: C0, C1, C3, C5, C7 C9, BV00, BV02, BV04, BV08, W1, W3, E30, E31 & C. Blender.

Denim & Textures Class

Morning to All,
Another post on a class being held at Daisy Lane Scrapbooking in Mattoon, IL. This class will focus on the best color combinations for Blue Jeans. And all kinds of other colored jeans as well. You'll also learn how to add 'real life' texture to your finished image. Really make it look like material. For this class you will need the following Copic Markers- B32, B34, B37, B39, B21, B23, E41, E43, E44, E7 & C.Blender.

In this class we will cover how to color bark smooth & rough.

You will receive handouts with color combinations that have are tried & true. These combinations will work for anything made from wood. Baskets, chairs, straw, instruments, furniture and even wood floors.

All Things Green Class

Time for some info on another class to be held at Daisy Lane Scrapbooking in Mattoon, IL. This class will cover GREENERY.

We will learn some really great color combinations for doing leaves, trees & grass. We'll practice shading each of these to show where light naturally hits. Especially trees! You will need the following Copic Markers for this class- G16, G20, G24, G28, G99, YG03, YG63, YG67, YG91, Y21, YR18, YR23, E15, E19, E35 & C. Blender.

Also, you'll learn how to add grass when your image doesn't have any.

Skin, Hair & Eyes Class

The 2nd class that is scheduled is on "Skin, Hair & Eyes". It's pretty obvious what you will learn in this class. You will leave knowing the basic color grouping for skin. But you will also have a chart of all skin colors to use. Same with Hair. We will color one of the combinations, but you will have a chart for home that has all the most common combinations on it.We'll also do a very brief tutorial on eyes. It's pretty cool! You will need the following list of Copic Markers for this class- E000, E00, E11, R20, E53, E55, E57, Y11, Y21, YR21, N2 & .35 Black Multiliner.

New Copic Teaching Job

Hey Everyone,
I'm so excited! I am going to start teach Copic Classes at a major Scrapbook store about 75 miles from my home. That seems like a long way, but it's only 2 Saturday's a month. Since it's a little bit of a drive, we are going to utilize Saturday to the full. I'll have at least 2 classes during the day. Maybe some time to demo for new customers too. We'll be offering 14 different classes. I've found that most scrapbook stores only offer basic beginner type stuff. You can choose to just do beginner stuff, but for those that really get interested, they can learn all kinds of skills and get more and more detailed.

It is exciting, but sooooo time consuming getting all the stuff ready, so.......see ya later!

More Loralie Designs Stamps

Well, I received my new stamp sets from Loralie Designs yesterday. I had to sit down and make a couple. I absolutely love doing this type of coloring.

This one is called "For You". I did her in Copics. I'm playing with a new method for skin. First I laid down E00 all over. Then I used E02 around the edges of her face and lightly feathered it inward. I then took E11 and put a very thin shadow line all around her hair and "shadowed areas" and then added her R20 blush and then took E00 and blended it all together.

I did the same on her arms but only put the shadows next to her body. I then used E04 and added the darkest shadows you see on her eyes, under her chin and arms.

This next one is called "Charlotte".

I again used the same method on her skin, but used E000 all over, E00 for shading, R20 for blush and E02 for thin shadow.

Blended all together with the E000. I then used the E04 for dark shadows again.

You'll be seeing a lot of these ladies for a while as I play around with them.

Summer Copic Class Series is Done!

Hello Everyone,

Wow! The summer went fast. I didn't realize getting together a class each week would be so time consuming. But it sure was! The first series is over and I'm looking to fill up a class to start in November.

In the meantime, I let my stash of cards get dangerously low. I threw these two together. The stamp is by Loralie Designs. I love her stuff. I just ordered several more of her stamps.

This one is done in Y11, Y15, Y17 & Y19. The Violets are V12,V15 & V17.



The colors on this one are BG11,BG15 & BG18. The reds are R24, R27 & R29.
It's a tiny bit out of focus as the brad I added messed up the scanning.



I hope to do some challenges really soon.

3rd Place Winner at Tiffany Doodles Challenge

Hi everyone,
I won again at the Tiffany Doodles challenge. The card you see in the previous blog is the 3rd place winner! I do love winning! I don't know how the rest of you girls find time to blog during the summer. I can barely keep up with getting materials ready for my Copic Classes. We are off the the Lake of the Ozarks later this week. So, maybe I'll have a chance to make some cards to post then.

We are also remodeling (an ongoing thing) and my office/scrapbook room is on the schedule for tomorrow. That means no computer and no area to do anything for a few days.

So, I hope to talk to you all next week.

My first Official Class Attendee

Hello All,

I am so excited! My first person officially signed up to take my first 3 classes. I know there are others coming, it's just still early and they haven't taken the time to sign up! (pay up!) They will.

I'm frantically getting all kinds of little things done around here so that while I'm away in NY, he won't have too much to do around the house. I just found out that I needed a congratulations card for some friends that got hitched last month that I didn't know about. (not very close friends huh!) Here is the card I made for them. It's a digi by Karen Doodles and I love it. The faces are so realistic looking. I find a lot of wedding stuff has goofy faces and I like wedding pics to be more realistic, therefore, this is Perfect. Yes, I mean to give them a DARK Skin Tone as they are African American. Done in Copics and some various CS and Bling I have lying around.

Puppy Love

Hey everybody, Here's the last card I finished during my sleepless night. I finished it about 5:30 am. Done in copics using a digi from WinkWinkInk. The die cut paper is Flower Child White by Pop Culture. I rediscovered a Sentiments book that I bought several years ago. I'm going to start using it for my cards. It actually has some really cute stuff and I think it will actually inspire a card when you know what the sentiment is going to be in advance.

I was able to catch 2 naps today so I probably won't be able to sleep tonight either.

About 6 months ago I signed up to work at our Rubber Stamp show that is being held about 1 hour from my house. I'm working for Rubbernecker. I'm kind of excited. I really love the stamp shows more than the actual Scrapbook Shows. I just get kind of crazy to see all those stamps in one place. So, I'll hopefully be back on Monday. Goodnight!

It's 2:46am and I'm still AWAKE!

Help, I can't sleep! About once a month I have several nights where I can't sleep. Might as well make good use of the time (vs laying in the dark listening to my stomach growl like a lion cause I refuse to eat this late or early). Here are two cards I just popped out.



This first one is for some friends Anniversary next week. The image is from KarenDoodles who I just discovered today(oops! Yesterday.) I really like her images (still love you Tiffany). I cut out the fence the other day from my Cricut Pagoda cartridge and it just didn't work on that project. But was perfect here. Colored in Copics and I almost always use Pearlescent Chalk by Pebbles for my BG. The cardstock is my favorite way to do cards-I buy boxes of pre-done CS & env by DCWV or Bazzills. It really speeds up the process. Most of the time I have 40% off coupons and grab them at HL for around $6 for 40 or 50 cards per box. What a deal!



This second card is for a client. My husband does remodeling and has been working for a really sweet couple. The gentleman keeps on making lunch for our guys. He loves any excuse to BBQ. Not that many customers do this, so he deserves a handmade card. This image is also a KarenDoodles digi. I used a sizzix embossing folder for the brown paper on top. Colored in Copics of course.
